Quarantined Pause

I realized today that I need to return to moments of silence during the day. It is in moments of silence that I have a clear sense of me. Once I begin my day I lose focus and I do too many things resulting in only getting a few accomplished. My daily routine of meditation, affirming reading and journaling are centering things that prepare me for my day. My routine slows me down and allows me time to reflect, allows me quiet time to just be. It is refreshing not to have to think about anything. I just sit with myself and be with myself, quietly, gently, lovingly. As I reflect on my moments of quiet I am brought back to dreams and desires long forgotten. I am reminded of what is most important to me and how my I am living my dream. I want this for you too!

Today, I offer you a quarantined pause. Sit with yourself in quiet and as my sister would say, “get your mind right”. Give yourself space to shake off the very loud noise of COVID-19. Give yourself the gift of silence. As you sit with yourself repeat silently, “I am hope.” If sitting in silence is new to you, sit for 3 minutes each morning. As you get more comfortable with sitting in silence increase your time gradually to 20 minutes. Getting to 20 minutes is not what is important. It is important to just sit quietly every day to prepare your mind for the onslaught of work you require of your mind each day. As a result of these moments of quiet, you will begin to awaken the true you. You will rediscover dreams deferred. Dreams that you let go of and replaced with a busy life. Embrace the dream and hold on to it tightly, for in the dream is hope and joy. You are HOPE!
