Imagination

I bet you are bored with being home right about now. You are going stir crazy spending every waking minute with your kids, your significant other, and/or family members. Maybe you are wandering aimlessly around your house or apartment wondering what the future holds.  If any of these scenarios describe you, I invite you to join me for a playdate! That’s right, I said playdate. I would like you to spend some time with your imagination. Imagination helps with boredom, stir crazy, and aimlessly wandering. Trust me. I have spent many hours with my imagination, considering all that can be possible in education. Each time I have a playdate with my imagination I see more clearly ways in which to impact change. So join me in imagining the way you want your school to be. To do this you will need pen and paper because you will want to record your imagination. Documenting it creates a resource for you to revisit when you feel like your joy and passion waning. The documentation will be the fuel you need to recharge your batteries so that you can find ease with the moment-by-moment changes in the ways in which we currently live. So here we go! Let’s imagine what we would create in our district, school, or classroom if we had a magic wand. Don’t hold back! Let your imagination soar.

  • Describe the environment in your ideal district, school, or classroom.

  • What surrounds you?

  • Who is with you?

  • What’s significant about this ideal environment?

  • How will you be in this environment?

  • What of your knowledge and skills will serve you? Which will you have to let go of?

Share what you imagined in the comment section. Let’s send positive energy out into the universe for the ways we wont our schools to be!
